// Education has always been at the forefront of Project Nicaragua’s mission. The niños (children) we work with in Rancho Grande have so much potential. Working with our local partner, Noemi, Ohio State undergraduates have, for the last eleven years, helped foster an environment built for learning. From the building of the schoolhouse to the implementation of computer access, the children in Rancho Grande have seized the opportunities given to them. Some have even going on to college, the first in their families, after passing the rigorous college entrance exam. @__mrk_ (picture 4) said of the recent trip to Rancho Grande, “I adored teaching the niños! They were silly, hardworking, and didn't give up. It was difficult at times because there was such a range of abilities in the classroom; some kids picked up lessons really quickly while others had yet to learn to really write. But the sense of community between those kids was unbelievable. When they noticed a friend struggling, they helped. Everyone looked out for each other. Getting to know those kids was the genuine highlight of the trip for me, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat!” //
