In 2010, Ohio State’s chapter of Project Nicaragua micro-financed the creation of a sewing center in Rancho Grande, Nicaragua. This business venture was founded by a group of talented seamstresses in the area, and it has allowed them to design, create, and sell unique Nicaraguan clothing and accessories on the global market while learning key entrepreneurial skills.
Originally focused on the creation of small handbags and backpacks, we have since diversified our products, introducing scrunchies and other small goods. All money earned from sales goes directly to the women and the supplies necessary to produce the goods themselves. To view the goods currently for sale and support our women’s sewing cooperative, please visit the “shop” section of our website. We typically restock in December and June according to our ability to visit.
